Hello, my name is Roger Nelmes, Student Ministries Pastor at Faith Assembly Church, Houston. I appreciate you taking the time to read this letter and consider an exciting opportunity for the communities of the North West Houston area. Although we are of different denominational affiliations, one reality remains constant—the students of our communities need Jesus.
Reality Check 2008 is a student conference that challenges teens to take a good look at their lives, their school, and their destiny. RC08 (Reality Check 2008) has been strategically planned for the churches of our area to build momentum around the SYATP (See You At The Pole) outreaches on our campuses. The event date is Wednesday, September 24th, at 6:30PM and will include a concert, high impact drama, heartfelt worship, and a challenging message from God's Word. Over the last four years we hosted the event in Missouri, Rhode Island and PA, and we had over 20 churches bringing as many as 500 plus students. The event is absolutely free and will feature a concert by Candlefuse and special guest communicator, Marty Burroughs, the South Texas District Youth Director.
RC08 is more than just a hyped up event that excites our students only to send them back home into their old routines of normalcy. RC's purpose is to challenge the un-churched to consider their eternity, unite the student community to pursue spiritual growth, and to give them a means of accomplishing the Great Commission through evangelism, discipleship, and hands on ministry.
I challenge you as a fellow youth leader to give your students the opportunity to come and experience God at RC08. In fact, challenge them to bring their un-churched friends. Join us for a Reality Check that will shape the history of our students and communities.
